A robot begins malfunctioning and revealing sinister memories he didn’t know he had. Concept art done for a pitch packet.
Protagonists: 10DD (“Todd”), N4-S1R (“Sir”), and D33-J (“Dee”)
Antagonists: Kheron and LRN4 (“Lerna”)
Kheron’s Ship
Inspiration for Kheron’s ship. I enjoyed the idea of spaceships that were longer vertically rather than horizontally.
Taking inspiration from multiple different ship designs, I gave Kheron’s ship a less conventional shape. From the side, it looks a bit like the silhouette of a manta ray, a shape I was looking for in the design.
Looga’s Bar
A seedy bar on a criminal planet. I decided that it had been repurposed from the remains of a crashed spaceship, so I looked at art of spaceship interiors for inspiration.
Looga
Inspiration for Looga’s design. I’m a big admirer of CreatureBox’s work (left image).
The owner of the bar. When I began designing Looga I already knew I wanted her to have froglike features, but pinning down her body shape was difficult. So I began sketching general shapes, and once I found one, I used my knowledge of anatomy to draw basic ribcage and pelvis shapes to finalize her build.
D-JJ (“JayJay”)
The DJ bot at Looga’s bar. When I began this design I thought I knew exactly what JayJay would look like, but I quickly discovered it was not working, and I had to come up with something new. I was very satisfied with the final result.
M1XR (“Mixer”)
Looga’s bartender. I had no idea what Mixer would look like going in. Funnily enough, the final design didn’t come from the original silhouettes at all.
The Smuggler’s Ship
Inspiration for the ship’s design.
A ship that our protagonists steal towards the beginning of the story. I started off with insects in mind, then found spaceship designs based on fish and took inspiration from that as well.
Smuggler’s Ship Interior
Inspiration. I like the design of having the bed as being a space inserted in the wall.
The inside of the smuggler’s ship. From what was in the script, the original owner seemed more like what one might call a “common criminal,” so I made sure his living quarters were dirty, stained, and had a pin-up of a girl of his own species.
